Coronavirus Australia: Brisbane Japanese restaurant targeted after ‘racist’ menu items

A Japanese food restaurant in Brisbane has been flooded with bad reviews - and its owner threatened with violence - after revealing controversial menu items including a “Wuhan burger”.

Nobunaga Yakitori in Morningside posted to Instagram the “virus-free” takeaway menu items, describing the burger named after the Chinese city central to the coronavirus outbreak as including “flame-grilled bat”.

Another dish of chicken wings was labelled “bat wings”.

In a subsequent post, the owner lamented the severe nature of the backlash and claimed he has “no bad feelings toward Chinese people, simply because of their race”.
