Through spring and summer and autumn, Melbourne is teeming with local fauna. There are possums, birds, different kinds of birds, dogs, cats, a fox, more possums, and all the animals that live in the zoo. But when winter arrives, many of our feathered and furry residents seem to disappear - birds fly north to enjoy sunny resort-style living on the Gold Coast, possums seek shelter in our wall-spaces where they die and putrefy over the next three months.
But there are still a few highly resilient species that can endure our icy plummeting temperatures, so Melbourne, say hello to your wonderful winter wildlife.
